serving as Master of Ceremony for entertainment events
Greetings from beautiful, lively and sunny (most of the time) Dunedin, Florida. I am originally from Erie, PA, was a TV sportscaster for many years last in Syracuse, NY. And worked in New York City hosting a show on The Travel Channel, did TV commercials, industrial films and MC work. I now have settled in this region best known for its world class beaches and tourist attractions around Tampa Bay ready to perhaps do something like that here. You can contact me at (727) 736-4782 or email at [email protected]
My announcing career began as a Master of Ceremony for the First U.S. Army Band. At age 24 having received a TV job in Plattsburgh, NY. my technique was humorous and considered uniquely different from broadcasting of its day.
During my career I first interviewed Tiny Tim and Miss Vicki, Jesse Owens and Hank Aaron. Probably my biggest scoop was a world-wide exclusive interview with Muhammad Ali months before his first Joe Frazier fight when he shockingly acknowledged that it would be a "miracle, impossible" to win and indeed he did lose. Later in my career when covering the Boston Red Sox for WJAR-TV in Providence, RI sluggers Jim Rice, and Fred Lynn were rookies. Later among those I interviewed were Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Cal Ripken, Jr., Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Dave Winfield, Ron Cey and many more. Outside of baseball I'll never forget my interview with great Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback Terry Bradshaw. We all know him to be funny. When I asked him for a comparison of Steelers from his time to the present he asked for a minute as he "looked down at a bible", collected his thoughts for 30 seconds and then quietly spoke with me. I have never heard of that side of him before. The year was approximately 1977. One time while on the air reading from a teleprompter when Sha Na Na and Bowzer were waiting to be interviewed they made funny faces at me trying to get me to break up. It didn't work. When the interview finished my daughter Susan came over to meet Bowzer! To me this was a precious memory. After my last sports job in Syracuse I went to New York City to make it big. It worked great. In a short while after going to a very positive TV commercial school I did print ads for the NY Times and Midas Muffler, and was known as Coach Ron for a "How to Play Baseball for Little Leaguers" - a tape which was distributed and sold nationally. Working for an agent from Philadelphia I did a Pizza Hut and national Coldwell Banker commercial. The biggest break was when chosen among 250 candidates to broadcast news headlines across the nation. That led me represented by The Ford Agency to anchor "World Travel News" on The Travel Channel which reached 15 million homes. I hope this website has represented my versatility and experience in broadcasting, commercials, humor and entertainment. My complete biography is on LinkedIn. I live in Dunedin, Florida, have greyish hair now as you can see from the top of first page and am available for work anywhere. Thank you for viewing.
